The Marathon Weekend...

This past weekend we loaded up into Blue (that's what we've named N8's Rav 4) and headed to St George, UT. It's a tight squeeze getting all 6 of us and our stuff in, but we did it and the savings with better gas mileage makes it worth it (29 mpg average).
Before we left an awesome friend Megan drew N8 a fun chalk drawing on our driveway!

N8 has been training to run the St George Marathon and it was finally here. He was a ball of nerves! On Friday we arrived and went to the EXPO center, picked up his packet, listened to speakers, looked at booths and ate a all-you-can-eat pasta dinner. We also drove up to the start line so that N8 could get a feel for the course.

Friday night N8 got everything together and tried, I emphasize tried to get a little sleep. At 3:50am I dropped him off at the buses that would take him to the starting line for a 6:45am start. Me and the kids got up and had breakfast at the hotel and then headed over to get a spot watching the runners come in.
Henry wasn't a fan of all of the noise!
But was willing to hold a sign for a picture!
3 hours 24 minutes and 41 seconds after starting we saw N8 cross the finish line, smiling all the way!!

This is what he was doing when we saw him after the finish line-eating an ice cream sandwich and chocolate milk and telling me "that wasn't so bad", "that felt really good", etc!
We're super proud of you N8!!
