Happy Halloween!

Another Halloween is wrapped up!!
This Halloween started with treats! I made monster cookies for Bud's class. Last weekend I went to 3 different stores in search of the candy eyes for these! They eyes made them!!
For Emma's class I was asked to bring popcorn. I did white chocolate popcorn with black and red sprinkles and candy bones!
This morning Mo's class did a little parade and trick or treated at the City Hall and Police station
For this adventure Henry was a Jack-o-Lantern, he had mixed feelings about it!
Then we were off to the elementary school for the parade. The pictures I took didn't turn out so great, but the kids had fun despite the bad pictures :)

Tonight our Ward and the other Ward in that meets in our building did a soup and bread dinner and then Trunk or Treat. The kids then went around the neighborhood and got more piles of candy.

So this year we had a Skeleton
Indiana Jones
Witch
and another Indiana Jones
For Indiana we made duct tape whips!

Happy Halloween!!

It's pumpkin time...

For Family Home Evening we carved or Halloween pumpkins! All 4 kids got their own pumpkin to gut and carve. Henry was pretty excited about all of it!!
Everyone drew their face on and started cutting. Bud, Emma and Mo did almost all of their own cutting!
The final result
All lined up!

The Marathon Weekend...

This past weekend we loaded up into Blue (that's what we've named N8's Rav 4) and headed to St George, UT. It's a tight squeeze getting all 6 of us and our stuff in, but we did it and the savings with better gas mileage makes it worth it (29 mpg average).
Before we left an awesome friend Megan drew N8 a fun chalk drawing on our driveway!

N8 has been training to run the St George Marathon and it was finally here. He was a ball of nerves! On Friday we arrived and went to the EXPO center, picked up his packet, listened to speakers, looked at booths and ate a all-you-can-eat pasta dinner. We also drove up to the start line so that N8 could get a feel for the course.

Friday night N8 got everything together and tried, I emphasize tried to get a little sleep. At 3:50am I dropped him off at the buses that would take him to the starting line for a 6:45am start. Me and the kids got up and had breakfast at the hotel and then headed over to get a spot watching the runners come in.
Henry wasn't a fan of all of the noise!
But was willing to hold a sign for a picture!
3 hours 24 minutes and 41 seconds after starting we saw N8 cross the finish line, smiling all the way!!

This is what he was doing when we saw him after the finish line-eating an ice cream sandwich and chocolate milk and telling me "that wasn't so bad", "that felt really good", etc!
We're super proud of you N8!!

10 years!!

I can't believe that it has been 10 years since Benjamin was born!!

Here are some interesting facts about Benjamin:
  • He has braces (and a rubber band in the back which he always forget to put in!)
  • He loves to read (he has read all of the Harry Potter books now and just started Eragon)
  • He is a LEGO fanatic
  • He just got his Bear in Cub Scouts and will now enter Webelos
  • He has decided he likes "tween" shows on TV, like Good Luck Charlie, Jessie and Gravity Falls
  • He is becoming a better soccer player with another season of soccer
  • Others tell me he's turning into a runner (which makes N8 excited!)
  • He LOVES geocaching!
It's amazing to think we've gone from this:

to this in 10 years!
We love you Benjamin,
Happy birthday!!

Trail of 100 Giants

On Saturday we took Grandpa & Grandma K up to the Trail of 100 Giants. It had been a LONG time since we had been there. This is how our family looked the last time we went:
It was a beautiful day. We took a picnic that was only interrupted by some bees that were hungry and thought we should share.
The kids had a great time dragging Grandpa and Grandma K to all of the trees:
The kids loved checking out all of the Giant Sequoias and seeing how they measured up!
They loved that they could climb inside the tree~

We also worked on getting some family pictures, I'm pretty happy them how it turned out!
Emma, Mo, Henry and I opted for flip flops. It might not have been the best idea:
We were lucky enough to do a car swap with some friends so that we could all fit into one vehicle which was nice for visiting and for gas. All in all, a wonderful trip to some beautiful trees!
