School's out for the summer...

Today was the last day of school. I have excitement over the possibility of sleeping in a little bit and taking our trips. I'm NOT excited for the "I'm board" and "mom there's nothing to do" that will inevitably happen. But hopefully I can curb some of that with careful planning!

Today Emma's class went to the park, played, blew bubble, threw water balloons and ate lunch. She had a great time and I think will really miss being in kindergarten.

Here she is the first day of school as a comparison:

Bud has had a great year with a great teacher. I hope that next year goes just as well. Here's a little before and after with Bud and Mrs Switzer.

Kindergarten Graduation

Today we attended Emma's kindergarten graduation. She was so proud. She loves to pose for a picture, even when walking!

As her teacher announced each child she told how old they were, their favorite thing and what they wanted to be when they grow up. Emma is 6, like to play at recess and want to be a princess when she grows up!

In her class this year there were 2 Kyle's, 2 Emily's and 2 Emma. So here is Emma K with Emma C!

We're so proud of Emma and look forward to what 1st grade brings!

Character Matters II-Bud's 1st theatrical performance!

This past week Bud participated in the school's 3rd grade play "Character Matters II". The play focused on character traits and used fairy tale characters and stories to show the good and bad to these traits.
Bud was cast as one of the "Golden Rule Singers". He was joined by 6 other young ladies and sang very well. He knew all of his words and did awesome!

I have video of it, but blogger doesn't seem to want to upload it!
Here he is after the play with his awesome teacher Mrs. Switzer!

Bud and one of the other singers Audrey:

He wanted a picture with the scenery. Emma & Mo were just excited because I had promised to take them to ice cream after the performance!

Emma almost dropped Henry right after this picture was taken!
I was so proud of how serious he took his part, making sure he knew all of the words. Great job!

1st time DIY (for the kids)...

We finally remembered to take the kids over to Home Depot for the their kids workshop. I don't know why we haven't done it sooner. It was a great Saturday morning outing and it allowed us to get our Home Depot shopping done as well!
The kids loved getting their Home Depot aprons (and a pin when the project was complete!)

Can't you just see the excitement!

1st time to the Dentist...

Six months ago Mo refused to crack open his mouth for our dentist. I was a little nervous that today's dentist appointment would not go well. I was pleasantly surprised when we practiced saying "Ahhh" before we went and he was willing.
Emma was the first to go back while Bud finished up homework and Mo thumbed through denture brochures. Then Bud headed back. When it was Mo's turn he wanted me to go with him. So, Henry and I went back and held his hand as the hygienist started her work. Other than a quick complaint about the light being in his eyes (which was remedied by some sunglasses they had) Mo did great! I held his hand the whole time (and luckily Henry sat on my lap without grabbing at the equipment too much).

Besides a previous filling getting fixed for Emma all three have clean teeth and no additional cavities.

The Firestation Tour...

A friend set up a tour of one of the local Fire Station (China Lake Fire Station). Mo and Henry had a great time. The Firefighter that did the tour was patient with all of the little kids and did a great job being informative and also making it fun for the kids.

They let each of the kids get up into the engine (not truck!):

One of the firemen got into all of his gear (it freaked some of the kids out a little bit!)

They each got a hat!

And spray the hose!

Thank you to all firefighters throughout the world for all that you do!

Getting into trouble...

This is how I find Henry most of the time the last week and a half.
Either pulled up to something:

Or getting into something:

I'm afraid he's not going to be satisfied with crawling for too long!
