6 month well-baby, well sick-baby check!

This morning I took Matthew in for his 6 month check-up. They call these well-baby checks, but he was kind of a sick baby today. I took him in last week because I suspected an ear infection (I was right btw). But yesterday his fever came back and man was he a fuss-bucket! So, it turns out his ear is still infected and so is his other ear. He's now on a new antibiotic, plus he got 3 shots and one oral vaccine today! That's a lot for a little guy to take! But he's taking it pretty well:

Here are his stats:
He is 19lbs 5oz, 27.5 inches long and his head is 19.3 inches around. He is in the 75% on everything, so he is pretty evenly proportioned!

Here are a couple of more photos from the last couple of weeks!
Bud had a friend over and they put together a puzzle:

They don't make sense!!!

We live in the desert. It gets HOT here! So, when it's actually somewhat nice out I want my kiddos to go outside and enjoy it. This morning it's in the mid 80's. I had to force (I was going to say practically force, but I really did have to force) them to go play outside. Bud was even in tears! I don't get it? We have a super fun jungle gym to climb on, sandbox, sidewalk chalk- I'll even let them use water and water the plants. I finally had to give them I time that they could come back inside. So, Bud keeps checking the clock every couple of minutes to see! I just wanted to sweep the kitchen without little feet walking through all of the pop tart crumbs! What weirdos!!

They need to enjoy it while it lasts because in a few short weeks we won't even be seeing 80's!!

Welcome to Summer!!

I have friends that blog that do a weekly review. I love this idea of weekly reviewing what has gone on in my life I'm just not on top of my blogging enough to do it every week. But, this past week had some significant events. So, I'm going to do a little review.
  • On Tuesday I got to go an Bud's last field trip to McDonald's. It was fun, they got to play at the play land, eat and go on a little tour. Who knew McDonald's has a basement!
  • On Wednesday Bud graduated from Kindergarten. He loved school this year and had an awesome teacher.
  • On Thursday (the last day of school) Bud's class went to the park and played water games and had ate lunch. I of course forgot my camera that day! It was loads of fun and Emma, Matthew and I got to join them.
  • On Friday a friend of ours had a group over to play on their new water slide!! Now Emma will tell you she had a great time, but she only went down twice and had to have someone go with her.
Bud on the other hand went down a ton and loved it!!
  • On Saturday we had an open house for my cousin and his wife. It was a lot of fun and it gave me the excuse I needed to clean my house.

During my week I was looking for a couple of quotes and came across this on by President Thomas S Monson and really enjoyed it. It's taken from a wonderful talk called "An Attitude of Gratitude"
“The past is behind, learn from it.
The future is ahead, prepare for it.
The present is here, live it.”

All in all a pretty decent week. We'll see how this next one turns out and maybe you'll get to read another weekly review!!

Father and Son's + daughter!

So last weekend was father and son's campout. N8 looks forward to this annual outing for yet another reason to go camping. I think he also looks forward to Ricky's great dutch oven cooking!! Well this year was a little tough. Our little Emma LOVES to go camping and couldn't quite understand why only the boys got to go. So, what's a mom and dad to do?? send her!! Yes, my daughter tagged along on the all male, all father's and son's campout. A few people asked N8 about it and he told them she would quit coming before she turned 12! So, we have a few years.

On Saturday morning she wanted to take a hike, but wasn't satisfied with the one N8 took her on!

N8 doesn't know what kind of hike she was expecting, but oh well!

Bud enjoyed playing in the fire and building dams in the stream.
Oh and picking his nose!!

In other news, Matthew started "solids" this past week. Solids really means pretty soupy rice cereal. He seems to be ok with it!
On Thursday Bud's school did a Language Arts Festival. It was very cute. His class did the alphabet in sign language. My pictures didn't turn out so great of the class doing their thing, but here's a fun one of Bud and his best bud waiting for it to start.

What do you listen too?

So at my house if the TV isn't on the I'm listening to music. I have issues with silence for some reason. I don't like lulls in conversation and although I might say I want some peace and quiet from my children, what I really want is to watch a good show without being interrupted, or to listen to some music while I read or cook.

I have to say I am a product of the 80's. Being the youngest of 6, I listened to what my older siblings were listening to. So in addition to what is listed you can add pretty much any typical 80's stuff to the list! So, here's some of my favorite tunes (songs, groups, bands, etc):
Here are a few songs I like
