Trip to Idaho

This past week I traveled up to Idaho for the graveside service for my mom. We could not have asked for a more perfect day of March Idaho weather. It was about 60 degrees, sunny skies and a breeze only picked up for a moment during the service. My niece and Brother in law sang and my sister read a life sketch that my older sister had written for the funeral. It turned out wonderfully.
Afterwards the ward had a luncheon for us at the church building
Sharyn (a good family friend), Mark, Karen & Briggs

Lucy and her grandpa
Lucy and her grandma
Here's my parents home:
The view out the back:
And just a field away the dome (it's a potato dome that is right next to the home my mom was raised in). If you ever get a change go inside a dome and stomp your feet or sing a little song = awesome echos!
and a beautiful sunset
Here's a poem my sister Carol wrote just after my mom's passing:

Remembering

One foot in the clouds and one on earth
Although gone we still feel her presence,
when the whirring wind brushes our skin
on a cool day in March.

I can still see her picking the plump blackberries
in the back yard, humming the entire time,
her soothing voice caressing the prickly vines
as if to console them for the loss of their tart purple hue.

I can imagine those strenuous trips hiking through the mountains,
Weavers Needle, Fossil Creek, Havasupai Falls.
She was always the prepared one, and the preparer.

Her enthusiasm carried us and kept us moving like the queen
keeps her drones at work and away from the honey.

She seems far away now but is she?
No, I think she is always with me, and she always will be.
As long as Spring always comes, blackberries grow, and
the mountains stand high above the trees.

Love you Mom
